  2. Shortly after I posted "Caprese del Nobile Bistrò", I learned that Nobile Bistrò had closed earlier in the year. I reacted to this news with a mixture of sadness, incredulity, and eye-rolling. The restaurant was unquestionably successful: every time I was there, it was packed, and not just the inner courtyard. The service was as fast as it needs to be in Milan in the lunch rush and invariably friendly; the menu had a perfect mix of appealing, light and very satisfying dishes for hot-weather days in addition to classic primi, secondi, bistro fare and desserts. Why the eye-rolling? Because the restaurant has now been converted into a franchise location (sigh).

In my last two trips to Milan, I had 10 delicious lunches at Nobile Bistrò. As a kind of posthumous tribute, here's a listing of tonycitytastes episodes where some of those lunches can be revisited:

    Bresaola & Primosale, episode 68, April 2016
